Australian Opal

My client was gifted an opal ring and asked me to remake it for her. This was one of the first remodels I did using the metals as well as the gemstones. I still absolutely cannot believe the colouring in this opal, it blows my mind every time I revisit the images.

The making of this was relatively simple, but opals are notoriously soft gemstones. I know some do, but daily wear isn’t advised due to the softness of the stone and they are easily damaged. It always makes me nervous when setting an opal but this ring turned out well. Simplicity was important in this ring. Firstly because my client prefers the more simple designs and secondly I tried to keep it simple as the opal is so stunning I didn’t want to detract from that and the spectrum of colours it has.
